To get a marble effect on the fire place I first traced over it, cut it out then used it and used this as a stencil.
I mixed two tones of diluted ink, dipped in a brush, flicked off the excess and stroked the bristles to spray it over the stencil. On tests (in sketchbook) some ink managed to seep under the acetate so when applying this text I used paper weight/ anything that was lying around to keep it pressed firmly down.
I dived in with the vase thinking that it should be bold to keep the balance in check with the boldness of the window section and the table cloth.
Though reflecting I think for the composition the vase would've worked better being white with black spots. For the cushion, after finding reference imagery and doing a test I dived in again without pre-drawing hence this could've worked out better.
Afterwards I used acetate to work out how best to include more flow then continued to work into it.
It could probably do with a bit more contrast but I feel it's on the brink of being over worked here. So now all I'm left with is the rest of the carpet, the clock and fire place, maybe the eye box textures. I think its best I don't go in too heavy with these. The gown, I think the detail should be fairly minimal. The pictures, I'm thinking the central pic should be a portrait of her, and the lizard textures. Though I think the greyscale element is weak against the black, I think they should be done water based. Still might work the cat into the carpet. Anyway 6 days left.
