This week I've concentrated on experimenting with textures. Some were successful others not so much I'm trying to get a nice fabric effect so I can apply it like this. I'm getting these results using watered down ink and a sponge, wet sponge, dry sponge flannel and toilet roll. In the picture above the ink bled outside of the intended area so I've been trying different ways to contain it in the intended area. I'd used masking tape on the picture above and thought I'd just need to make double sure all the bubbles had been squeezed out but it still leaks so masking tapes ruled out. I tried vinyl but that was even less reliable. Masking fluids faffy, I haven't sussed how to use the stuff properly yet. Dunno if its the tool I'm using to apply it? It doesn't leak but I struggle to get precise curves with it + its hard to see where I've already applied it and when I go over the top of it it gets snotty. I expect it'll be of more use on larger s...

In C.A.D we were shown how to animate the Channel 4 ident. It was straight forward. I've not got the animated version as my computer didn't recognise the format it was saved in so just these screen shots. We also did this trippy animation. Again I haven't got the original animated version but heres the screen shots It was so easy to do and looks sweet.I practiced it again when I got home so heres a short clip. 90 frames. For the Ch4 logo. Go to panel, view3, options , config, click back and load image. Select the isometric square icon & go to extrude and drop a spline into it. Extrude, object, current state of object. click the two red dots twice on the extrude. Create a new material and make it white. next texture on cap 2. Extrude selected, go to current state of object. Delete old extrude, click the + symbol next to the triangle ( next to the new extrude, it makes 2 caps appear. Now move the new material to the extrude then go to projection and select frontal. Fl...

This week I've been trying out using a fountain pen as I've only ever gave up on using them in the past due to blotting issues. Not gonna jinx it n say I've got it sussed but. Here's what I've been drawing. I like the top left, though I'd fix the left eye. May apply minimal skin texture to the female. The top right is straying more towards realism and porno territory so gonna steer away from that approach. The bottom left is alright. I like the female but I can't tell if the dudes face looks funny or dodgy. The bottom right is my fav, lovers entwined. There's this 1'mm fine liner one from before I had a nib. It looks alright. I think I get good texture effects using fine liner. But it's still too thick. I enjoy playing with the suggestion of line rather than there actually being a line. This is some more.. Biro on different papers. The last one's pap. 2 point perspective refresh. As noted to me, the closer the angles get to the v...
