3 contemporary illustrators I like and related to my current study.. Vasilii Zhelezaiakov.
I'm not totally mad on what he's producing at large though sections of his art draw me in, like say this
looks like a river running down an alien cave, reminds me of something from Panzer Dragoon. To me it's just subconscious doodling, I don't think any artist will be a stranger or struggle with letting their imagination run wild on a page. It's actually an enjoyable thing to do. He has gone a step further by refining it into final pieces.. . His art is fine, precise and executed well but it doesn't conjure any emotion.
In fairness I should say all the artists here have produced better work than I have.
John Guydo
This piece is called Wings of Zechariah. I've not got a single criticism here, I think this piece is stunning and is a bit of a wake up call. John Guydo overall is an excellent illustrator! Not someone I aspire to stylistically but still someone I look up to as I'd like to be able to produce art of this quality. How his line defines form is very Moebius so it comes as no surprise that he's noted as one of his inspirations. It's a technique I'd like to study, not sure I would integrate it to my own style but it would strengthen my understanding of 3dimensional space. His postures are over dramatic and sometimes over exaggerated for my liking.
Here some hands he did.
Obviously it boils down to preference but I prefer Loishes exaggeration
I'd say John Guydos hands/postures are like Michaelangelos , really bulky and meaty.
First off the lightings brilliant on Venom ( is the monster in the background called Venom?) but the form on his upper bicep leading to his shoulder is ugly. I think he should have applied more perspective as well. Spidermans leading hand should be bigger and bother of their following hands should be smaller. It's a pretty cramped composition as well.
Great picture! Again it's cluttered but focusing souly on her figure. The same problem with her arm behind her, it doesn't look any further away even though its a perspective drawing. Her legs should be longer and her foot is too arched and bulky. Again in comparison here's some of Loish's figurative drawing.
I prefer this style.
My 3rd contemporary illustrator is Nicolas de Lort
These are excellent and I think He's a super talented bloke!
